Golden Grove officially opened on Mr Brown’s poultry farm. Mr Ray Holmes was the first principal and the school consisted of 47 learners, 4 staff members, 6 classrooms, staff room, storeroom, a boys’ and girls’ cloakroom.

School badge decided upon. Gold, Black and red became Golden Grove colours. Semper Sursum – “Ever Upwards” adopted as school motto.

Mr Minnaar notified that a fire had occured in the Principal’s office and various records and equipment were destroyed. Buildings completed

Mr Minnaar retires (3rd Term) Miss Veenie Fowler takes over as Acting Principal.

Second fire, arson was suspected.
1979
Golden Grove celebrates its Silver Jubilee
1993-1996
Mr Clive Barham takes over from Mr Parsons as Principal.
1997
Mr John Wood becomes Caretaker Principal for three months. Mr James Bailey appointed as present Principal. 765 learners continue to flourish under the school’s motto Semper Sursum.
1999
Funds become available for Golden Grove’s computer centre. In May 1999, it became operational
2000
Golden Grove acquires The Willow Pre-School and The Playhouse Aftercare.
2001
Peer Mediation introduced. Additional classroom built for Pre-Primary Borehole sunk for sports fields Further extensions to Pre-Primary providing additional toilets and storeroom
2002
Current enrolment 863 including three Pre-Primary classes.
2003
Lease of room to the Occupational Therapy (Private) Practice to assist Golden Grove families
2004
Golden Jubilee Celebration Golden Grove employs its own psychologist.

Consulting rooms built for Psychology Department, Speech Therapy and Remedial / Bridging classes
